Tomorrow is PM Kindergarten
Today the morning classes had gymsic. Reminder in gymsic the classes continue to do gymnastics and in previous blogs there is information from Mrs. Roworth. Both morning and afternoon classes continued with the favourite story of the day! The classes read the story 'The Most Magnificent Thing'. Ask your child what it was about and what their favourite part was. Please make sure that your child has their name on their boots. We have been having problems at the end of the day making sure that each child has on their own boots. If you are unable to write it on the inside and tag or string of some sort would be helpful. Reminders that there is no school on: February 1st Professional Development Day February 11th and 12th Teacher's Convention Fabruary 15th Family Day Have a great evening! The K Team

Today the kindergarten classes drew a picture and wrote about doing their favourite things. Some favourite things included playing in the snow, building sandcastles, hanging out with Mom, going shopping, reading books with my family and eating ice cubes :) Before the activity, we discussed how to draw a picture that includes details, lots of colors and backgrounds. We also talked more about sounding out our words, putting down the sounds we hear onto our paper. The students worked very hard on this!
Thank you all for sending in flyers! We have a variety, however we are still in need of toy store flyers....if you have any to send in that would be great! Bus parents: The Kindergarten children have been asked to line up at the end of the line when boarding the buses each day. Please make sure your child is standing with you when the bus arrives to pick up your child at your stop. We have been having some difficulties with some of the children feeling that they need to be first in line at all times. Not only does this cause a safety concern but it is not fair to the children that are quietly waiting their turn to be pushed out of the way by others. January 27 is Family Literacy Day across Canada! We hope you'll take part in literacy-building activities with the children in your life! Just 15 minutes a day can help develop long-lasting literacy skills in children and help parents and caregivers build positive, strong bonds with their children. Here are some fun ways your family can mark Family Literacy Day
Have a great evening :) The Kindergarten Team Today in Kindergarten the morning group listened to one of their friends favorite stories. The drew a picture of their favorite part and wrote a sentence. It is very interesting to see all the different ideas of favorite parts of the same story.
In the afternoon the classes had gymsic and then they too listened to a friends favorite story. Have a good eveing The Kindergarten Team Today all of the classes continued working on their "book of the day" pages. The students are really working hard on drawing detailed pictures and writing down their favourite part of the story, listening for the sounds that they hear in each word.
We are currently exploring gymnastics in gym for the next four weeks. Please remember to come to school dressed to participate in gym. Wear comfortable clothing that is not long or baggy that will allow you to move. Try to avoid coming in dresses or skirts, or make sure you are wearing leggings and not just stockings. If you have longer hair that could be tied back in a ponytail, bring a hair elastic with you to school. Dangly jewelry like earrings and necklaces may need to be taken off, so if you can, leave it at home. Also, bare feet are preferred in gymnastics. If you have any cuts or infections, we ask that you come with appropriate coverings like athletic tape, fabric bandaids or gymnastics slippers. Thank you for your cooperation. Please make sure that your child has their name on their boots. We have been having problems at the end of the day making sure that each child has on their own boots. The afternoon group talked about the letter Ww today. Many of us made a worm and a wagon to put into our sketch books along with the Ww's we printed. There are lots of words that begin with W including wonder, whale. winter and water. We also visited the yert! While we were there we read a story and then we checked to see if all of the Kindergarten students could fit in a circle around the edge of the yert and we could! Then we went outside and made another circle. The morning had gym-sic. Please read the note below from Mrs. Roworth about what is going on in the gym. Afternoon Kinders always have gym-sic on Tuesday and the morning grow is always on Thursday. We are currently exploring gymnastics in gym for the next four weeks. Enjoy your evening Team K It was great meeting so many of you on Thursday and Friday. We hope that you learned more about what we are doing in the classroom and have a new understanding of Kindergarten.
All of classes did different things today. Mrs Decottignies morning class read Logann's favorite book and drew pictures about it. In the afternoon we wrote in our journal's about what we like to do when it is cold outside. We were trying to listen for the sounds we know to help us write down words. Mrs. Osadec's class wrote about what they did on the weekend in their journals. They too, are practicing listening for sounds when they are writing words. Mrs. Bridle 's class did a math question about how many hands and feet were in small groups. You would be surprised at how difficult of a task this can be! Mrs. Yacyshyn's and Mrs. Smith's class read the book "I wonder..." and shared the things that they were wondering about. Some of the things they are wondering about are dinosaurs, space, why letters make sounds, and lots of how many? questions. We are working on a bunch of different activities and over the next little bit will be asking if you can send in some items we will need. This week it is flyers. *A student from Mrs. Yacyshyn's class is missing a pair of black boots (size 12 or 1) and a pair of size 11 are here at the school. If you could check if these boots (they are labelled with the student's name) are at your house that would be great! Thank you! Have a great evening :) The K Team Today some of the classes did their January 'Me and a Tree'. We are beginning to add more details to our drawings and are learning more letters, numbers and words :)
Many of us were also working on various art projects....ask your child what they did for art. The classes are talking about what we wonder about. The students have come up with a variety of things they are wondering! Mrs. Decottignies has asked your child to share with you what they are wondering about. Tomorrow is a regular day. Parent teacher conferences will be happening tomorrow afternoon/evening and Friday afternoon. Please come at your scheduled time. We look forward to meeting with you :) A very important note came home with your child the other day. If you are willing to allow them to participate please sign and return the form. If you would rather they did not please write refused on the form and send it back so that we know and do not repeatedly ask you for the form. Have a great evening! The K Team Today the morning classes worked on answering the question "Who is the tallest and who is the shortest?" Two of the classes then combined and the students put themselves into order from shortest to tallest.
The afternoon classes went to Gymsic where they have been playing the Star Wars game! Some of the classes have also started having a student bring in a book each day and after it is read, each student draws and writes down their favourite part! The grade three students are doing a construction project and are in need of some recycled goods. Would you mind having a look to see if you have any of the following: Yogurt containers Egg cartons Newspaper Tin cans Milk cartons Thank you on behalf of all of the grade 3’s! Just send the items in with your child and we will pass them along. A very important note came home with your child the other day.
