In Kindergarten today there was some creepy activities! We had some super heroes here to save the princesses and good witches to block the evil of all the bad guys around.
The morning group did a five little pumpkins activity that the afternoon group did on Friday. The afternoon group had gym-sic where they played some games and worked on the Winter Show. We will be starting our new Alphabet Activitiy. Each Tuesday and Thursday we will be exploring a new letter of the alphabet. We are inviting students to bring ONE item each day from home, that starts with the ‘Letter of the Day’ to add to our daily Alphabet Museum. TOMORROW WILL BE LETTER A We will be doing a variety of learning activities with the items such as sorting, counting, and writing to help us investigate the alphabet. Have your child take charge of the activity by letting them find the item on their own, putting it in their communication bag and bringing it to school. Winter Concert: The winter concert is on November 30th. There will be two performances, one in the day and then an evening performance. The times will depend on whether your child is morning or afternoon Kindergarten. AM shows 10:00 and 5:30 (time change) PM shows 2:00 and 7:00 The grade 1 and 2 classes will be split between these times. We will be able to move children for the evening show so that you will only need to attend one performance. If you find that your children are at two different times please let your child's teacher know. For more information please so the school newsletter on the website. We have heard some are wondering why Kindergarten is the last in the doors in the morning. Stay safe and enjoy your evening The Kinder Team

PM KINDERGARTEN TOMORROW
Today in Kindergarten we did our second Me and a Tree! There is quite a difference between this one and the one from September. Some of the classes talked about what was the best part of their work and then what they could fix up in when they do it again November. Last call for Scholastic orders. Halloween: Students are welcome to dress up for Halloween on October 31. Please have your child leave masks and accessories at home. The day will be low key and so we keep routines and learning as normal and engaging as possible. The Halloween Howl will be on Friday Oct. 28 from 2-4 pm. Parent Council will be organizing activities in the hallways. There is more information in the school newsletter http://schools.cbe.ab.ca/b401/calendar.htm ) We have heard some families are wondering why Kindergarten is the last in the doors in the morning. We have found over the years that it works best if the older children are allowed in first because they are faster at getting their outdoor shoes off and they clear the hallway sooner. When the Kindergarten children were allowed in first they would sit in the middle of the hall to remove footwear and they were not aware of what was going on around then. The older children would come in and trip over them or run into them, which often resulted in the Kindergarten children getting hurt. When they come in last they have the time to get their shoes off safely and head to their classes. There is always a Kindergarten teacher supervising the door and the hall.
