Today in Kindergarten we wrote out our names on small pieces of square paper and then glued it onto a bigger piece of paper. We could choose to make a pattern or not. Our next job was to count the number of letters in our name and then write that number down!
Please make sure that you have sent back the brown envelopes that were sent home in the first week. There is important information that the office needs included in these papers. Scholastic orders went home today with some of the classes. They are due on Monday September 21st. Parent Teacher conferences are on the 24th and 25th of this month. To book an appointment you would have been sent an email with instruction on how to book. These are one on one conferences so that the teachers can learn more about your child from you. We will be able to give you a little bit of information on how they are adjusting to Kindergarten but we are just getting to know them as well. Mrs Decottignies does have more times available but unless your child is in her class please do not book a time with her. With the weather changing please practice putting on and doing up outdoor clothing. We encourage independence and try to help as little as possible.

Today, the afternoon classes got to have their first Friday at school! It was a fun and very busy morning! We got to go to the gym where we played some fun movement games and learned how to move safely in the gym.
We talked about colours and did a sorting activity where the students sorted a variety of materials into different colour categories. After the sorting was done, each student chose their favourite colour and made a collage out of the various materials using only one colour. Ask your child which colour they chose. Please remember to send along a family photo for Monday...thank you :) Also, for Mrs. Yacyshyn's class..if you received an Entertainment Book that did not have your child's name on it, please send the book back on Monday. If you have not yet received an Entertainment book, it will be handed out on Monday. Again, sorry for the confusion! Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week :) The Kindergarten Team Tomorrow is PM Kindergarten
Today was our second day of gym-sic and again it was a lot of fun. When we returned to our classroom it was snack tine and then centres. We have some really neat centres out right now!. There are some wood cookies, beads to make letters and a bunch of different rocks. This afternoon we learned about "mat-man". We learned that Mat Man has one head, two eyes, one nose, one mouth, two ears, one body, two arms, two hands, two legs and two feet. We then drew Mat Man in our journals. There is a Mat Man song that we sang too. It is important to remember when we are drawing people how many body parts they have. We would like all of the children in kindergarten to bring in a picture of their family. A 4x6 photo would be great. We will be keeping these photos and putting them on display. We would like the pictures to be at school by Friday, September 11, 2015. Thanks! Good Afternoon!
It was another busy day in Kindergarten! In both the morning and afternoon classes we had a visit from our health nurse, Nurse Natalie, who talked about and demonstrated proper hand washing techniques. Each child got a chance to properly wash their hands and see how clean they were with the help of a UV light....very cool :) We spent some time exploring new centres as well...ask your child what centres they went to and what they enjoyed. Please remember to return your brown envelope containing the information/consent/volunteer forms and the Entertainment Books if you do not wish to purchase. Also, we would like all of the children in Kindergarten to bring in a picture of their family. A 4x6 photo would be great. We will be keeping these photos and putting them on display. We would like the pictures to be at school by Monday, September 14. Thank you :) Have a great evening! The Kindergarten Team This morning in kindergarten we learned about our friend "mat man".

We would like the pictures to be at school by Friday, September 11, 2015. Thanks! This afternoon was a busy one! We had our first gym-sic and it was a lot of fun. When we came back to our classrooms, we had our snack and then a quick centre time before heading to the gym for an assembly. The assembly was about the Entertainment coupon books that the school will be using as a fundraiser. In the afternoon groups communication bag was a brown envelope (that went home with the morning group on Friday). Inside this envelope are some very important papers for you to read and fill in. It would be appreciated if these were returned to the school as soon as possible. Also in the communication bags was an Entertainment coupon book. The morning group will get theirs tomorrow. Included is a yellow sheet of paper with information about the fundraiser. If you do not wish to purchase the book that came home with your child please send it back to the school. Please have a look at the size of your child's backpack. The notes that came home today are the size of a standard library book. If these notes needed to be folded in order for your child to close their backpack it is too small. We like to have them the size of a library book so that when we begin out visits the book they choose will fit in easily. Please also make sure that your child has indoor shoes that they are able to do up on their own and leave at the school. With the weather cooling we want to help Mr. Fred keep the school clean and we don't want to track dirt and grass in on our shoes. Have a good evening Team K It was our first Friday of kindergarten with the morning children. We had a great morning! We talked about colours and shared with our friends our favourite colour. We sorted out some materials and then created a favourite colour collage using those materials. We learned that a collage is a piece of art work where different items are glued onto a piece of paper. Our teachers were very proud of our work. We also went to the gym this morning. Mrs. Roworth joined us and we learned about making sure we each have our own space in the gym to move in.
Just a reminder that the kindergarten entry and exit door is door C at the back of the school just off the compound. Please do not have your kindergarten child use the front door to enter the school. If you have already spoken with your child's teacher about sibling drop offs, there is no problem continuing with that routine. All morning kindergarten children received a brown envelope today with all of the required forms and fee information. You will find that envelope in your child's communication plastic bag. Please return those to your child's teacher as soon as possible. We hope you have a great long weekend. See you on Tuesday at door "C"! The Kindergarten Team NO school tomorrow for the afternoon Kinders. Their first Friday will be next week, September 11 from 8:00 - 11:15.
Today in Kindergarten we continued working on the papers we had yesterday. We coloured our shapes and now we have cut them all out and glued them onto some paper. For some of us this was a very hard job! The best part about the morning group's day was gym sic! This is a combination of gym and music taught by Mrs. Roworth (our gym teacher) and Mrs. Henderson McDade (our music teacher). My goodness it was fun. We sang, danced and ran around the gym. When it was done we were pooped! The afternoon class with have gymsic on Tuesdays. Please remember that Evergreen is a nut free school and that nuts can not be brought in snacks as we have some children with severe allergies. Enjoy your evening The Kinder team Day two of Kindergarten. Today was another day of learning the routines and expectations of school. It went much smoother and the children seemed to be picking up on things and much more comfortable with how our day works.
Each child brought home a communication bag today with a couple of notices for you. We will use these bags all year and send them home each day even if there is nothing in them. Please send information that you would like us to see in the bags as we will be checking them to begin each day. Today we talked about four shapes and then we coloured them in using pencil crayons and doing our very best work. Have a good evening The Kindergarten Team |
