Tomorrow is AM Kindergarten
We had a fun day learning about the letter Mm...what sound it makes, what words start with M and printing and drawing these in our books. We also listened to our letter rap/sang our Mm song. We introduced a new way to start our day today! Instead of just signing in with our name, we are now drawing a picture in our journal and writing what our picture is about underneath. We are sounding out our words as best as we can. We did a great job :) There will be no school next Friday, November 20. Last day to hand in Scholastic orders will be tomorrow! Have a great evening! Remembrance Day tomorrow ~ No School
Today we talked about peace and p is for poppy. We came up with many words that start with the letter P. We talked about Remembrance Day and why we wear a poppy. Each child was given a poppy sticker to wear today. Scholastic Book orders are due on Thursday, November 12. No school on November 20. Please continue to have your child practice putting on their winter gear....we are getting there :) Also...in-line skating is finished for Kindergarten...no need to send helmets anymore. Have a great day tomorrow. See you on Thursday :) The K Team To begin this week we are talking about the letter Pp and peace. Some of the classes talked about what peace means to them after we read a Todd Parr book called "What is Peace..." Some of their answers were pizza, hugs, family, sharing and being a good friend. We then drew a picture and wrote down our thoughts. Other classes talked about the letter Pp and which words started with p as well as practicing writing it in their journals.
Here is a note from the Grade 3's Every year we collect donations for the Poppy Fund. The money raised helps people who fought in wars or served in the military. Many of these people were hurt and have no one to help them. Some are growing older and have no food to eat. They don't have enough money for a good quality of life. We are raising money for the Poppy Fund here at Evergreen. There will be a jar for your donation in the office. Donations will be collected next week. Any amount is fine. Nothing is too small or too big. Thank you for helping. The Veterans appreciate it and so do we. Dona Nobis Pacem. (Grant Us Peace) The Grade Three Students We have added a new page to our website! If you look along the top there is a Home Reading tab now. Have a look to see some ideas you can do at home with your child to help them with home reading. The rhymes will change weekly and so will the activities. Feel free to make changes or do your own thing. Reminders: Photo retakes tomorrow It is easier for us if you let us know if your child is getting retakes. Just sent us a quick email and we will make sure they get their picture taken. There will be an assembly for Remembrance Day tomorrow at 10:30 that you are more than welcome to attend. The Kindergarten children will not be attending the assembly but will be discussing the meaning of Remembrance Day in class. No school Wednesday November 11th No school Friday November 20th Enjoy your evening Kinergarten team Tomorrow is PM Kindergarten!!
It was a cold one today!!! Thank you for practicing putting on mittens and hats and zipping up coats at home...we are definitely needing to be wearing those now. Some children are having difficulty with putting on their boots and zipping up their coats, so continued practice would be much appreciated. Next Tuesday, November 10th is picture re-take day. Today both the morning and afternoon classed learned about the letter S. We talked about the sound s makes as well as what words start with s. We sang some songs, danced and drew pictures and printed the letter Ss and some words in our journals. Have a great evening! The K Team We had another action-packed day in Kindergarten! We started off the day with our must-do centers. These centers focus on specific skills we are learning in Kindergarten. Ask your child what they did at their center today!
We also did some work with the letter H. We did some songs and dances. In some classes we created our own song...ask your child how it goes! We also practiced printing both upper and lower case Hh's as well as drawing pictures that start with the letter Hh. Please continue to practice zipping up those winter coats and putting on winter boots at home. The kids have been doing really well and we know that we can get even faster :) Thank you for doing this! Have a great evening! The Kinder Team Today we talked about the letter Cc. We did a bunch of different things with the letter. Some of us sang a song and did a dance, we drew pictures, made a list of C words and then practiced writing the letter.
With the cold weather here it would be great if you could practice putting in winter gear at home. Things such as zipping coats are tough for little fingers but we are encouraging independence and would like them to be able to dress themselves. Other information: Scholastic order forms went home with some classes and they are due on November 12th Our Alien in-line skating is now over so there is no longer any need to send in helmets. There is no school on November 11th for Remembrance Day The school does a Remembrance Day assembly on the 10th at 10:30 and you are more than welcome to attend. Due to the dismissal time of the Kindergarten classes we will not be attending. Have a good night The Kindergarten Team. "They grew!!!!" The seeds we planted are taking off! All of the students had a chance to observe the changes that have been occurring and then wrote about those changes and drew them in their Little Green Thumbs journals. Our squash plants are getting very tall and are showing a lot of roots and so we are in the process of transplanting them to a large garden bed. The basil, tomato and pepper seeds have all sprouted as well! Exciting!!
As the cold weather is definitely upon us, we ask that you please have your child practice putting on their winter gear (boots, hats, mittens, jackets) at home so that they are able to do it independently. Thank you! Have a wonderful evening :) The K Team |
