Today in Kindergarten the morning classes did a letter. Mrs. Bridle’s class talked about the letter “O” and Mrs. Osadec and Mrs Decottignies talked about the letter “X”
In the afternoon we had gym-sic along with snack and centres. A note went home to parents that have volunteered to come with us on our field trip please ask your child for it if they do not give it to you as it is quite important. We have begun sharing our calendar bags and they are great! Today we had quite a few sets of 10 and some of them were sneaky because they were really two sets of five to make ten. We had shapes with ten sides and ten angles, rainbows with 10 colors and one of the boys first and last name has ten letters so he put that in the bag! The rest of the afternoon students were given their date and the morning ones will go home tomorrow. There is a copy of this note in previous blogs if you did not receive your note. We realize that some of the dates that your children may have are not school days but we will still be talking about the date. Please send your child with their bag on the next day that they have school. Reminders: Full day of school and field trip May 18th for Kindergarten only NO school for Kindergarten May 19th No school for entire school May 20th PD day No school May 23rd Victoria Day. Have a great evening The K team.

LONG BLOG today please read it to the end as much of the information is new.
Today in Kindergarten all of the classes did the same thing. The teachers read a story but stopped before the end! UGGGG, why would they do that? The children needed to predict what was going to happen next. Their job was to draw a picture and write a sentence about what they thought was going to happen in the story. Before they left for the day we re read the story but this time added in the ending. Some of you received the note today with your child’s calendar date today the rest will go out tomorrow. Here is what it says: Dear Parents and Guardians, We have started a new calendar this month and are asking for your help! Your child will be assigned a number and we are asking you to help them find things that go along with that number. For example: If your child has number 6 (your child will have a different number between 7 and 31) In their bag (small plastic sandwich bag) they could bring: Six cars a Lego piece with six bumps Write the word 6 carton from half a dozen eggs Drawing of a hexagon write their name if their name has 6 letters A picture of themselves if they are six years old. Cutting numbers out of flyers write the number 6 Feel free to use your imagination and find interesting objects that go along with their number. Please send the items to school in a clear zip-lock type sandwich bag. They will be sharing their bag on the date that matches their number. All items will be returned home at the end of the month. Your child’s date & number is: __________________________________ Thank you for helping your child with this activity, We realize that some of the dates that your children may have are not school days but we will still be talking about the date. Please send your child with their bag on the next day that they have school. A note from school School Council that will be more important for children in grades one to four but information that you may wan to know about if they choose to go with this program next year. THIS OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN THIS YEAR. Dear Evergreen Families, A notice will be coming home today about a special lunch this Thursday. School Council has decided to offer a trial run of a lunch program as an option to consider for next year (this would be in lieu of our current hotlunches.net program). We have chosen two dates in the remaining months of the school year: May 12th and June 16th. Participation in the program is completely optional, and available to students in grades 1 through 4. In order to place an order you must create your own account at www.thelunchlady.ca. The Lunch Lady takes full responsibility for all orders, payments and meal deliveries thereby limiting the number of parent volunteers required. Once you have set up an account you can then choose from a variety of healthy lunch options for your child(ren). Some program highlights:

Field trip notices went home today, make sure to read through them and send back the permission forms as soon as possible. Thank you! We currently have enough volunteers....thank you so much for all of you who stepped up to help so quickly :) We did some movement exercises today as a large group and we did as many as we could for 30 seconds each! We did awesome :) Please note that on the yellow May calendar the 27th says that it is AM Kindergarten when it is really PM. Have a great evening! The K Team It was a busy day in Kindergarten....we all had big smiles for our pictures ;)
The morning classes continued with our alphabet directed drawing activity. Ask your child what picture they drew and what letter it starts with. The afternoon classes had gymsic; half of the time was spent outside! Both classes worked on some extra special activities for some extra special people :) The yellow calendar that went home had an error. Please note that the 27th says that it is AM Kindergarten when it is really PM. Have a fantastic evening! The K Team Today many of the classes worked on a new activity. We have a new alphabet booklet and we are doing directed drawing activities for each letter. It is a review of the letter and sound as well as time for us to practice using our fine motor skills. Not to mention the many new things we will be abel to draw on our own!
The afternoon class had a lock down. All of the Kindergarten teachers talked about what was going to happen and why. We even did a quick practice first. At 2:15 Mrs. Coates came over the p.a. system and said that "we are in an internal lockdown". The children wen to their space and sat quietly for about 10 minutes. Our school community resource office cam in to each classroom after to talk to us about how good of a job we had done! The afternoon class talked about 30 seconds today and gave each the students a challenge. What can they do in 30 seconds? Some of their suggestions were make their bed, put their clothes away, get ready for bed or help get a job done. We told them that if they manage to find something that they could could type it up on the blog and we would give them a sticker tomorrow. Have fun with it an let us know what you did! The yellow calendar went home on Friday with the morning group and today with the afternoon group. Please note that the 27th says that it is AM Kindergarten when it is really PM. Enjoy your evening The Kindergarten team |
