We hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Today in Kindergarten the morning group worked in their Little Green Thumbs books for the first time. Our lIttle Green Thumbs books are the workbooks that go along with our garden. For the last few years we have been a part of the Little Green Thumbs program that is run through the Calgary zoo and sponsored by Agrium. We will be planting an indoor garden again this year and the children will be journaling in their own Little Green Thumbs books. Today we wrote about what a garden needs or what we think will grow in our garden. This afternoon we had gym-sic and then we drew pictures of ourselves before going to snack and centres. The morning group went on their Fish Creek walk on Friday and it was fantastic. We had beautiful weather and this Friday looks to be much the same. In order for us to go on our walk we need to have at least 5 adults to go with each class. If you are able to help us out and have your police clearance please let us know as soon as possible. Scholastic book orders are due tomorrow so that our chance of getting them back for Halloween are much better. Have a good evening Team K

AM KINDERGARTEN TOMORROW
Today in Kindergaten We have a new way to start our day, it is called sign in. We come in and find our name on a piece of paper. We are learning to print our names neatly using capital and small letters. The morning classes had gym-sic today. We are playing tag games and learning to play safely. We have been talking about the letter Tt this week. Some of the activities we have been doing are making lists of words that begin with the letter Tt, printing the otter and today some of the classes started to make some turkeys in our sketch books. Mrs. Bridle and Mrs. Smith's classes have started "must do" centres and the rest of us will begin them very soon. Must do centres are centres that target specific kindergarten skills that will be rotated through on a regular basis. They will be changed every five days so to keep the tasks new and interesting. The morning groups will be going on their walk to Marshall Springs and the afternoon group will be doing it next week. Photographs went home today in your childs backpack. Scholastic orders for Mrs. Decottignies, Mrs. Yacyshyn and Mrs. Osadec are due on Wednesday October 14th Reminder: No school on Monday Thanksgiving Halloween Howl Otober 29th No school on October 30th Professional Development day Have a good night Team K Good Afternoon!
Today in Kindergarten we read a story about being thankful and then we talked about all of the things that we are thankful for. Next, we wrote in our journal "I am thankful for....." and drew a picture to go along with our writing. We got some very sweet responses :) This Friday is our morning Kindergarten's walk to Marshall Springs. Please let us know if you have a police clearance and are available to volunteer. Have a great evening! The K Team In the morning Mrs Osadec and Mrs. Decottignies classes talked about the letter Tt! We made lists of all the things we could think of that started with T and our list was a long one! Mr. Craig was in for a bit the class thought of even more things! Did you know that if you make a box (we have some foam puzzle pieces that we used) and then unfold it you can make both an upper and lower case T? I wonder what other letters will do this...
Mrs Bridle and Mrs Smith's classes are working on a fall collage so they spent some of their time today working on it. The afternoon groups had gym-sic where they learned a new game that uses pool noodles! The morning classes are going for a walk to Marshall Springs on Friday to check out some changes that happen in the fall and to look for numbers in nature. We plan on leaving the school at 8:30 and spending about an hour in the park. If you would like to join us and have police clearance please let your child's teacher know. the afternoon group will be doing the same walk on the 16th. Reminders: No school on the 12th Thanksgiving No school on the 30th Professional Development Day Have a good evening The Kinder Team What a crisp, sunny Fall day! It was a great day to make applesauce :) Both the morning and Mrs. Decottignies and Mrs. Yacyshyn's afternoon classes made this yummy treat. We washed, peeled, cut, cooked and ate the applesauce. We also wrote these steps down in our journals and drew pictures to go along with them.
Mrs. Smith's class talked about their communities and drew pictures of buildings in the community. On Friday, Mrs. Smith's class made their applesauce and apple juice....they were amazing!! We still need some volunteers to come along on our Fall walk to Marshall Springs this Friday, October 9. Please let us know if you are able to help out and have police clearance. Have a great evening, The Kindergarten Team It is hard to believe it is already October 1st and we have been in school for a month!!!
Today the morning classes had Gymsic! The morning and afternoon classes both did a whole group activity with all of their apples! We counted and sorted over 70 apples and then sketched our favourite type of apple in our journals. Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run for the afternoon Kindergarten classes. We will be meeting on the compound (outside the kindergarten doors) at 9:25 to do a warm-up and then will start the run at 9:30. We welcome you to run/walk with us and meet us outside on the compound. Remember to wear comfortable clothing and running shoes tomorrow. We will have orange slices to eat after the run. "Terry Fox ran for me...I am running for...." stickers were sent home earlier. You can send in the stickers tomorrow and if you have someone your child is running for please put their name on the sticker and we will have the children put it on. We can also run for Terry! Thank you for the donations we have received thus far, we are still gratefully accepting "toonies for Terry". Have a great evening! The K Team |
