Today in Kindergarten we started our garden. Each classroom planted a different type of seed. Some of them were tomatoes, peppers, squash, basil and chives. We will be planting other seeds as they year goes along.
Please watch for the Alien inline permission forms to come homeschool wide tomorrow. These forms are late going home and will need to be back Monday so that your child is able to skate next week. We are still looking for volunteers to help us at the beginning of both the morning and afternoon classes. We do have had some volunteers but the more people we can get the fewer skates each person will need to help with and the more time the children will have to skate. If you are able to help us out and have police clearance please let your child's teacher know. Just a reminder that with Halloween approaching the students will be allowed to wear costumes to school. Please leave all costume accessories at home so that nothing will be forgotten at the school. We are asking that costumes are not scary. Have a good evening Kindergarten team Three messages from the office: ATTENTION: Volunteers Needed for Upcoming Casino! We are less than two weeks away and short 10 volunteers. Did you know that Evergreen School Parent Advisory Council has raised over $140,000 since the school opened? We expect to raise over $60,000 by volunteering for our upcoming casino on November 1 and 2, but need your help to fill volunteer roles!! Our casino funds have paid for our school playground and naturalization area, artists-in-residence to teach their talents at the school, books for the learning commons, computers, iPads, cameras and other electronics used by students in the classroom, and a new set of handbells for our music program. We are lucky enough to volunteer at a casino every 21 months or so, and may lose this valuable fundraiser if we are unable to staff the upcoming event. - No experience required!! - It's FUN!! - It's easy!! - Meals, snacks, refreshments provided. - Do not need a criminal records check through the school. - Can ask friends, neighbours, the grandparents. - Get a babysitter and make it a date-night! - The shifts may be awkward hours, but remember this is only once in a two year period and provides a huge benefit to the children attending the school. If you would like to sign up for a shift at our casino please visit www.volunteersignup.org/QJ4MD or email [email protected] 2015/2016 School Survey As we continue to plan for school improvement and programs for our learners, we are looking for your input. We have created a short five minute survey on quality of education, parent involvement, digital citizenship, and residency programs here at Evergreen. Links to the survey can be found here. We thank you for your time and input. Your feedback is important to us in our planning process. Michael Craig Assistant Principal, Evergreen School http://schools.cbe.ab.ca/b401 Dear Parents and Guardians, All students at Evergreen school have access to a variety of digital tools in their daily learning. From desktop and laptop computers to iPads and iPods, our students use technology to enhance and support their learning in many ways. A wireless student network for Internet access using student owned personal electronic devices (such as iPods, iPads, tablets, or laptop computers) is provided at Evergreen School. The use of personal devices by students, with the guidance of parents and teachers will assist in addressing individual student preferences and needs for learning. Access to the LAWN (Learner Accessible Wireless Network) is available to students on a voluntary basis. The LAWN emphasizes student learning and places responsibility on students for appropriate use and behavior. All parents/guardians are encouraged to discuss the learning opportunities and the risks with their son or daughter. A copy of a parent student contract will be available through message easy and on our school website. Students who wish to bring digital devices to school to use in their learning will be required to sign the contract with their parents' permission and return it to school beforehand. Be assured that the content filtering that is normally used to filter inappropriate material and content on the school’s internal network will also be applied to the open access network. As with any personal belonging that a student brings to school, the school cannot be responsible for electronic devices that are lost, stolen or damaged. This is a significant opportunity for students to personalize their learning by choosing with their parent’s appropriate technology for their learning needs. Thank you for your attention to this important information.
