This morning in Kindergarten we worked more on our Fairy Tales. Some of the groups were given pictures from the story that they needed to put back into the correct order so that they could tell the story. i was a bit of a hard job but we did a fantastic job of it.
We have been talking about the Phoenician numerals. It is a REALLY old way of writing numbers. All of the numbers are made out of straight lines because long ago the numbers would have been chiseled into stone and you can't make round shapes like that. When you look at the numerals they look kind of like the numerals we use today but each one has angles. A number one has one angle, two has two angles and so on. when you are putting two numbers together to add you can just count the number of angles to get the answer! Pretty neat. Tomorrow is the number 9 We can get a sticker if we can show what it looks like to Mrs. Decottignies before it is shared with the class at calendar time. In the afternoon we had gym-sic. You should ask us about the new centers we have set up! REMINDERS: The school received a note a little while ago from the Evergreen Community Association about the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26th, from 10am till Noon, at the Everwillow Circle Park, 256 Everstone Dr. We will be having the Easter Bunny at the Easter Egg Hunt as well as the Calgary Public Library Book Truck. We will be having hot chocolate and coffee at the event as well. The chocolate is being sponsored by Evergreen Shoppers Drug Mart and Bridlewood Sobeys. The coffee by Evergreen Starbucks. If you could pass along this information also to your School Council, as we are hoping that they might be able to help us with the event as volunteers. They can email [email protected] and specify they are from the school council. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Thanks Paul Enjoy your evening The Kindergarten team

My daughter has been trying to show us what Phoenician numerals look like, but can't remember all of them. We can't seem to find anything on the web that looks like what she's showing us! Do you have examples of the numbers that you're showing the kids?
