Today in Kindergarten we talked about the letter C. Each of the groups talked about different things. Mrs. Decottignies class drew a crayon box, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Bridle’s classes drew crabs, Mrs. Osadec’s class drew a cap and a can and Mrs. Taylor’s class drew two things of their choice that started with C. Mrs. Smith’s class started and experiment that the other classes hope to start tomorrow.
Thursday will be letter D (more information below) We forgot to welcome Miss Mooore to Mrs. Decottignies class. She is a student teacher from the University of Calgary and will be with us until the Christmas break and then again in March. Miss Moore will spend some time in each of the classes over her stay with us. Some other messages from the school: The 10th Annual Veterans Food Bank campaign is looking for non-perishable food donations in Calgary. Much of the food collected for veterans in need of all ages comes from schools. Our Evergreen School collection started at the Halloween Howl and will continue until the Remembrance Day assembly on Nov. 10. Please bring all donations to the boxes in the foyer. Thanks for your generosity to Canadian veterans. Are you a F.E.F.? We are looking for Fit Evergreen Families! If you like to get active as a family, we want your pictures to add to our F.E.F. wall. If you don’t have a picture, try and get out and do something active with your whole family and take a selfie. What are some easy ways to get out and move as the weather gets colder? Walk the dog. Throw a ball. Go for a hike. Try something new! Skiing? Snow shoeing? Cross Country skiing? Skating? Tobogganning? Come up with your own family adventure and start bringing in your photos! *Put your name on the back if you want your picture returned. *Pictures will be posted on a Bulletin Board in the school. LETTER DAYS It will be done each Tuesday and Thursday we will be exploring a new letter of the alphabet. For letter A some of the items that we had were: Apple air plane ace asparagus Aloe A book with the title that starts with A the movie Atlantis We are inviting students to bring ONE item for each letter day from home to add to our Alphabet Museum. We will be doing a variety of learning activities with the items such as sorting, counting, and writing to help us investigate the alphabet. Have your child take charge of the activity by letting them find the item on their own, putting it in their communication bag and bringing it to school. Winter Concert: The winter concert is on November 30th. There will be two performances, one in the day and then an evening performance. The times will depend on whether your child is morning or afternoon Kindergarten. AM shows 10:00 and 5:30 (time change) PM shows 2:00 and 7:00 The grade 1 and 2 classes will be split between these times. We will be able to move children for the evening show so that you will only need to attend one performance. If you find that your children are at two different times please let your child's teacher know. For more information please so the school newsletter on the website. Have a good night The Kindergarten Team
